Examination of the Potential Effect of Corrosion Current Density of Ship Hulls on the Sacrificial Anode Cathodic Protection

In this study, the sacrificial anode cathodic protection system, which is one of electrical methods in prevention corrosion ships, was examined. Within scope potential effects current density, an important parameter for design, were studied. The study includes calculations a bulker with protected hull area 9406 m2 and general cargo ship 1770 m2. As result, it estimated that each 1 mA/m2 change electric density changes usage amount by 64 kg 12 cargo, depending on reference parameters such as area, type, design life. It can be stated evaluation parameter, taking into account operating conditions ship, will beneficial terms optimizing consumption.
